'MY WAY' Takes Out Best Female Burnout Award at Summernats 25

9-January-2012

Another Summernats has been and gone and the EZE-10S Performance powered VK Commodore 'MY WAY' has taken out the Best Female Award with strong showing throughout the weekend in Canberra. The VK was doing double duty over the weekend with Craig entered in the Burnout Masters Comp while Craig's partner Mel was competeting in the Sunday burnouts comp. Mel came out strong on Friday to qualify for Sunday and was putting on a show for the huge crowd before getting to close the the guard rail and reshaping the rear quarter. But the foot never came off the throttle and Mel continued to make smoke clouds until the tyres just said no more. Saturday was Craig's turn behind the wheel for the Masters and once again the pedal was pushed to the floor and the blown injected Holden V8 was performing like a dream. Craig gave it everything and after a few minutes, another pair of tyres were shredded. Although Craig didn't make it into the finals, the car still had had one more burnout to go. So on Sunday, Mel lined up the Commodore on the start line and gave it hell for over 2 minutes before dropping the car on the rims after another strong burnout and taking out the award for 2012. EZE-10S Performance Heads Back to Their Grass Roots

6-May-2011

After a few very successful years on the burnout scene, EZE-10S Performance has switched the focus of the business back to where it all started, Drag Racing. In the short time that EZE-10S has been building engines and handling the tuning duties for some of the toughest burnout cars in the country, picking up numorious wins along the way, it's now time to refocus on our core business of Drag Racing. "I have been looking at our Torana sitting at the back of the shop for a few years and have wanted to get it back on the track but we have been so busy preparing customer cars that we just haven't had the time. Now is the time and I really want to be able to race the Torana again with the new engine package that we have slowly been working on the last couple of years" says owner Mark Hinson.

"The last few years have been great and to be involved within the current burnout scene has been very enjoyable. We have meet some awesome people along the way and that has helped us build our name in the performance industry. Taking out some of the highest awards on offer has been a thrill, but I think what we are proud of the most is having an engine last over 14 months of burnout competitions without having to even pull the heads off or replace any major components. And this engine was worked extremely hard, pulling over 7,500 rpm on every burnout for over 2 minutes of burnout activity."

While burnout cars have filled the shop over the past couple of years, focus is now going back drag racing. Mark is no stranger to the 1/4 mile, having one of the quickest cars in the country powered by a turbocharged Holden 202. With over 600 horsepower on tap, it pushed the LJ Torana to a best of 10.4 @ 128mph. But with the standard 202 engine blocks at breaking point with over 30 psi of boost being forced into them, and Mark wanting to go quicker, a new combination was discussed and then sourced.

The same LJ Torana is now fitted with a Toyota 2JZ engine. Originally fitted to Toyota Supra's, these engines make horsepower, they are modern, parts are easily available and information can be easily sourced via the internet. "I love the 2J engine and I love Holden Torana's so to combine the two was the way to go" explains Mark. "I have been a big fan of the 2J for a long time, watching what the guys in the U.S are doing to them and seeing the numbers they can produce. We could have gone down the RB30 road to keep it Holden but we wanted to be different".

The car is now at at a stage where all the small parts are coming together. A large aluminium intercooler is now up front, a huge turbocharger hangs off the side, custom valve covers now smooth the top of the engine and with an engine bay full of aluminium and billet, you get the feeling that this Torana is about to push the level of performance a little higher. "Our plan is to have the car finished sometime towards the end of the year. We still have to balance working on the car and keeping customer work flowing but any time we have a spare moment, it will be spent on the Torana".
